Drug Uses
Fludac is used to treat depression, obsessive–compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, premenstrual dysphonic disorder, and many other disorders. It is a psychotropic drug which is taken by mouth.

How Taken
The general dosage of Fludac is one tablet 1–2 times a day. For best effect Fludac should be taken regularly for a long period of time. It may be 4 weeks before you feel relief from your depression, but after taking this drug for 3 months, the effect should last for about 9 months. It is best to take this drug at the same time every day. If you are treating obsessive–compulsive disorder, the best result may take 5 weeks to appear.

Warnings/Precautions
Do not take this medication if you are recovering from a heart attack or if you have liver disease or diabetes. Tell you doctor if you have a history of seizures–in this case Fludac should be taken with caution. Tell you doctor if you have any allergies. Stop use of this medication and contact your doctor if you develop a skin rash or hives. Sometimes Fludac can cause change of appetite, weight loss, especially in patients with bulimia and those who already have a low weight. Let your doctor know if you experience any of these conditions. Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. When taking this drug you may feel dizzy or lose conscious when getting up from sitting or lying position. Try getting up slowly, if that does not help and the problem continues you should let your doctor know. Do not take Fludac if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding as there have not been adequate studies of this drug`s effect during pregnancy. It is known that Fludac passes into breast milk.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– Abnormal dreams, abnormal ejaculation, abnormal vision, anxiety, diminished sex drive, dizziness, dry mouth, flue like symptoms, flushing, gas, headache, impotence, insomnia, itching, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, rash, sinusitis, sleepiness, sore throat, sweating, tremors, upset stomach, vomiting, weakness, yawning. Some of the less common side effects are– abnormal taste, agitation, bleeding problems, chills, confusion, ear pain, emotional instability, fever, frequent urination, high blood pressure, increased appetite, loss of memory, palpitations, ringing in the ears, sleep disorders, weight gain. In children and adolescents, less common side effects may be– agitation, excessive menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, hyperactivity, mania or hypomania (inappropriate feelings of elation and/or rapid thoughts), nosebleeds, personality changes, and thirst. If you experience any of these conditions or any other side effects consult you doctor.

Storage
Store Fludac at 68 –77 °F (20 –25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Fludac out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. An overdose of Fludac can be fatal. Combining Fludac with certain other drugs can cause symptoms of overdose. Some of the common symptoms of Fludac overdose are– Nausea, rapid heartbeat, seizures, sleepiness, vomiting, coma, delirium, fainting, high fever, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, mania, rigid muscles, sweating, and stupor.

More Information
Do not take Fludac with MAO inhibitors or for at least two weeks after their discontinuation. Do not take MAO inhibitor medications for at least five weeks after discontinuing Fludac. Most medications affecting the brain have the potential to slow reflexes or impair judgment and caution is advised. This medication has not been studied extensively in the US and reevaluation periodically by your physician is advised. Check with you pharmacist when taking with other medications.
